The term of office for four members and four alternate members on the California Cattle Council (Council) expires at the end of this year. Therefore, the California Department of Food and Agriculture (Department) is requesting nominations for filling these positions from organizations and individuals in the California cattle industry. The next three-year term of office will begin on January 1, 2023, and continue through December 31, 2025. The Council conducts educational programs, government relations activities, and research related to sustainability, management practices, and regulatory compliance. The Council’s activities are funded by assessments on cattle and calves marketed in California.

The California Cattle Council consists of 11 members and their alternates: three of the members represent cattle feeders, three represent range cattle producers, three represent dairy producers, one represents processors, and one represents the general public. All members and alternate members serve three-year terms of office, which are staggered so that one-third of the Council’s positions come up for appointment each year.

Organizations or individuals interested in making nominations must complete a nomination form and return it to the Department’s Marketing Branch for consideration. Nominations must be postmarked or otherwise received by November 8, 2022.
