California Dairy Digital, the California dairy industry’s number one magazine, is the only publication to exclusively serve the California dairy community, home to more dairy producers, cows and milk than any other state. First published in July of 1992, California Dairy Magazine was created to better meet the needs of California dairy producers, who operate under a unique set environmental, economic and regulatory conditions that set it apart from anywhere else in the world. In January of 2017, California Dairy Magazine advanced to a new digital platform, and now reaches the industry through social media, video news and of course, the beloved publication in its new digital format. Our company was born of necessity as successive years of drought gripped the once-prosperous San Joaquin Valley of California. Our irrigation experts and business modeling strategists spent years field testing tool-and-technology combinations that would increase efficiency to conserve overdrawn aquifers.
The result is an opportunity for customers focused on accelerating water resilience to participate in an incentive structure that reduces the demand for water while dramatically increasing crop success, turning a drought-burdened farming culture on its head, and producing multiple beneficial impacts for the common good.
Common Good Water has formalized a strategic alliance with Netafim USA, the world’s largest drip irrigation company. The alliance with Netafim USA enables Common Good Water to expand to cover other heavily water-stressed areas in the United States and globally. Eventually, we will also include other crops on the Common Good platform.
Our strategic partnership with leading irrigation efficiency experts provides agricultural tools for higher efficiency and greater profitability. Our customers add a fresh revenue stream for farmers through the purchase of Conservation Contracts™, providing additional incentives to conserve.
The irrigation advances we provide permanently change a centuries-old culture of inefficient water extraction to one of accelerated water resilience.
F&R Ag Services was formed in 2013 by Vince Furtado and Joe Ramos with the primary goal of providing the dairy industry a common sense approach to meeting regulatory compliance at a reasonable cost. Our staff with over 50 years of combined experience has now grown to nine full-time professionals including four Certified Technical Service Providers (TSP’s) on staff which understands the challenges of operating dairies in California and attempts to minimize the burden of regulatory compliance for their respective clients.
Our primary service is and will continue to be assisting our producers with dairy-related regulatory requirements imposed by the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board and San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, including on-site inspections, preparation of Annual Reports and recordkeeping.
However, to fully meet our clients needs, F&R also is well versed in preparing Comprehensive Nutrient Management Plans for NRCS, EQIP funding, assistance in obtaining Conditional Use Permits in Sacramento, San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced and Madera Counties and in seeking Grant funding opportunities currently offered by the California Department of Food and Agriculture under the Alternative Manure Management Program (AMMP).
With over 250 facilities currently entrusting F&R to assist them in meeting their regulatory compliance, our company is committed to the Central Valley dairy Industry.

In the last six years, 75% of the dairy digesters in California have been built by Maas Energy Works. With over a decade of digester development and continuous operations experience, Maas Energy Works is the leading developer of manure digesters in California with zero projects shut down! We currently have 40 digesters in active development. Alongside building 17 new projects, we have also refurbished older digesters like Open Sky Ranch (Formerly Vintage Dairy), Hilarides Dairy and Castalanelli Dairy. In 1970, Chris Rufer began Morning Star as a one-truck owner-operator company in California’s Central Valley, hauling tomatoes from fields to canneries.
Today, Morning Star operates three factories with the largest production scale in the world, with resources solely dedicated to tomatoes. We supply over 40 percent of national markets with ingredient tomato paste and diced tomatoes. We provide bulk-ingredient products to food manufacturers and pouch and can ingredient and finished products to the food service and retail trade. We are actively involved in the global tomato industry and ongoing tomato research, and we have pioneered changes in production technology that have helped increase efficiencies throughout the industry. Our sales of tomato products are over $800 million annually. And we still haul our tomatoes from the fields – just as our owner began his journey in 1970.
Our mission is, and has always been, to produce tomato products which consistently achieve the quality and service expectations of our customers in a cost-effective, environmentally responsible manner.
