WUD staff have noted an uptick in calls related to rural crime/theft in recent weeks. Dairy producers should ensure that signage around the dairy related to trespassing/bio–security is up–to–date, visible, and easy to read. “No Trespassing” signs should be posted at each farm entrance and at an interval of 3/mile on all perimeter fencing. Below is an example of appropriate signage to post on or around the farm.

While we know good signage doesn’t always prevent unwanted visitors, it does help law enforcement and the legal process should you need to call for help.
