Western United Dairies (WUD) is pleased to announce the hiring of James “Jimmy” Burroughs as the new North State Farmer Representative.

In this role, Jimmy will serve as the primary point of contact and advocate for dairy farmers across Northern California. He will work directly with producers to support the implementation of key programs, including water quality permitting, the Dairy Farmer Technical Assistance Program (DTAP), vermifiltration and water quality enhancement projects, on-farm recharge practices, manure management systems, and air quality initiatives.

Jimmy brings over 30 years of hands-on experience as the owner and operator of a 1,500-head dairy and 500-acre almond ranch in Denair, California. He is widely respected for his expertise in herd management, environmental compliance, nutrient management, labor oversight, and regulatory reporting. Jimmy has served on the boards of the Central Counties Dairy Herd Improvement Association and the Merced County Farm Bureau, and he is a 2009 graduate of the WUD Future Leaders Program. Most recently, he successfully coordinated an AMMP grant for his own manure separation system.

“Jimmy is exactly the kind of leader our North State producers need,” said Anja Raudabaugh, CEO. “His decades of real-world experience, deep understanding of regulatory challenges, and longstanding commitment to the industry make him an outstanding addition to the WUD team. We are thrilled to have him helping Northern California dairies navigate complex issues while maintaining profitable and sustainable operations.”

Jimmy is based in the Modesto area and begins his role on Monday, May 4, 2026. North State dairy farmers are encouraged to reach out to him directly for assistance with WUD programs, technical resources, or enrollment support at jimmy@wudairies.com or (209) 613-4184.
