The California Department of Food and Agriculture, on Friday, September 2nd, authorized an emergency livestock mortality management quarantine to run from September 2nd through September 30th due to a heat emergency. Detailed information on disposing of or composting carcasses in the event rendering is not available is included in a guidance document linked below. WUD encourages dairy producers to review the attachments listed in this article, which include emergency preparedness information, the quarantine order, and disposal guidance.
